While physically located in Florida, Sozo Psychotherapy offers therapy exclusively online to Florida, Connecticut, and Massachusetts residents through an encrypted HIPAA-compliant video platform. This format allows clients the convenience and flexibility of accessing expert care from the comfort of their own space while ensuring consistent engagement in mental health care beyond traditional in-person boundaries.

A consultation is a brief, initial meeting—typically lasting 15 to 20 minutes—designed to help determine whether working together would be a good fit. During this time, the provider will ask a few questions to better understand your needs, and you will have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have about approaches, specialties, or the therapy process. It is not a therapy session, but rather an informal conversation to explore alignment and next steps. There is no obligation to move forward after a consultation.

If you do not have insurance, or if we are out-of-network with your insurance provider, you have the option to pay privately for sessions. Your provider can also provide a monthly superbill—a detailed receipt that you may submit to your insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement, depending on your plan’s benefits. Please contact your insurance provider directly to inquire about reimbursement rates and procedures for out-of-network mental health services.
The standard private pay rate ranges between $80-$200 per individual psychotherapy session.

Therapy sessions are 53-60 minutes in length and typically occur once per week. The overall course of treatment varies depending on your goals, presenting concerns, and progress in therapy. Some individuals benefit from short-term, focused work over the course of 8–12 sessions, while others may engage in longer-term therapy to address complex or longstanding issues. Research supports both brief and extended models of care, and treatment is always tailored to meet your unique needs. We will collaboratively assess progress throughout the therapeutic process and adjust the frequency and duration of sessions accordingly.

Therapy licenses aren't like driver's licenses — they don’t cross state lines. To provide care of any kind, your therapist must be licensed in the state where you are currently located. At this time, Sozo Psychotherapy offers services exclusively to Florida, Connecticut, and Massachusetts residents.

We require at least 24 hours’ notice from the day of the appointment for cancellations or rescheduling of appointments. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice—or missed appointments without prior notice—will be subject to the full session fee. This policy is in place to protect the time reserved specifically for you and to maintain consistency in the therapeutic process. We understand that emergencies and unforeseen circumstances can arise, and encourage open communication should such a situation occur.
